Below, a current (or recent) color image photo from our local
ALL-SKY/UFO camera (See the Date/Time Stamp on the
image)
The image (photo) will refresh about every 90 seconds when the camera is online -
If you sense that the update is not taking place, then the camera has been turned off
(for now)
That will occur when there is the bright Sun or Moon rising or already in the sky.
Scroll down further on this homepage for a link that allows
a time-lapse movie sequence to be viewed.

On occasion, if there is an 'arc'
showing in the sky in the above image,
it shows the path of the
International Space
Station or even a UFO as it passes over southern Arizona.
This is a 'fisheye' lens color image with the
Huachuca Mountains on the right side (west),
the Mule Mountains on the left (east), north to the top and south
to the bottom.
This 'almost' all-sky / UFO camera is mounted on a roof top in Palominas, Arizona, and pointed
straight up at the sky (zenith). It commands an unobstructed view
of a large area
within Cochise County and some of Mexico. When each exposure is at night,
LOOK at all of the lights around the periphery and helping to destroy our
night skies!!
This lens provides almost a 360 degree view; U.S. border lights from
Naco are to the lower left,
(SE
direction), city of Sierra Vista horrendous sky glow is upper right (NW
direction).
When the camera is on, exposures are done on a continuing basis.
On a clear night, this can be up to a two-minute exposure showing
UFO's, stars,
constellations, planets, the Moon, bright meteors and 'fireballs',
the Space Station in orbit, and
clouds if present in the sky;
at other times, shorter exposures are taken.
When exposed during daylight, the Sun will show as a very bright
vertical extended streak.
At times when there is a bright Moon, internal reflections from
the camera's weather protective dome will appear in the image.
Also, when the temperature is below freezing, ice crystals may appear on the
clear acrylic dome protecting the camera.
When viewing, you can use your F5 key to reload/refresh the
image,
but this page (and photo) will automatically refresh (update) within
two minutes.
REPORT ANY SUSPECTED UFO ACTIVITY IMMEDIATELY! |

TESTING IN
PROGRESS: The Palominas ALL-SKY /UFO Camera
(a color camera and fisheye lens mounted on a
rooftop looking up at
the sky and surrounding area). Visit the below link and see
if you can view a current or recent time-lapse 'video' of the Palominas skies). It may or may not be
operational each day or evening - still testing in progress.
You may need a movie viewer for ' .avi' format movies and a DivX codec.
The file directory can be found at: www.palominas.com/allsky
There is also a short informational 'readme' file available.

Time Lapse of our Palominas night
sky
Click On The Link right below where the small icon
is to download
and view
a (virus free) video of the images captured during an evening in 2010,
probably after sunset.
The size of this video will vary from just a few Kb to just a few Mb - these
are NOT very
large files as the video is being compressed as it's created. Before
attempting to play
the current video on the server, I recommend refreshing your browser
(usually F5).
The time lapse sequence includes the sky, stars, clouds, the Milky Way,
occasional fireballs, helicopters, UFO's, the Space Station, and maybe a rising
or setting Moon.
The stars will appear to be moving east to west (actually, the Earth is
rotating west to east), the clouds, if any,
usually west to east, all manner of lights and traffic
can be seen around the perimeter of the 'fisheye'.
This is cutting edge for me, let's hope it works for you! Personally, I use
a program
named NERO Show Time to playback internet videos, including the avi's
and all on YouTube.
But Windows Media Player should operate okay with the DivX decoder
installed.

INTRODUCTION
This community web site, as is Palominas, is still 'a work in
progress' in many areas, but forging ahead in this, the 21st
century. On the horizon are many challenges, opportunities, and a promising
future ahead. But not without communication, teamwork, conviction, and the
dissemination and discussion of accurate information. This website hopes to
contribute to those goals and to help preserve Palominas as a peaceful,
serene (well, most of the time!) and starlit rural community. It will feature many topics that are,
hopefully, beneficial to all residents of Palominas, useful and sometimes
humorous information, photographs current and past, and the history on our beautiful
community of Palominas, as well as to serve as a communication forum for all of the community. Be sure to regularly
check the 'Update' page for the latest. To
